Summer Safety Tips

There are many summer destinations that entice fun seekers - the emergency room is NOT one of them - so with that in mind please consider the following summer safety tips:

(1) Sun. We all know the dangers, we just need to practice appropriate prevention….Block-up!

(2) Beach Safety. Watch out for the tidal undertow and see # (1)

Away or Out of Office message

Hi all:

That time of year is coming fast and you will want to get those out of office messages ready.  With the new email server you can set things up ahead of time and tell the server the dates and it will start and end automatically on those dates.  So now that I have your attention and you are quite excited let me tell you how to accomplish this.

May I have this dance?

The lights are dimmed in the dance hall and music fills the air — a slow song, perfect for a waltz. Young men and women politely approach each other, pair off, and begin to twirl on the dance floor. Watching the scene unfold is like stepping back in time, but it’s not 1911, it’s 2011, in MIT’s T-Club Lounge at ballroom dance class.

DAPER Staff Appreciation Day

"On April 28, the SAAC celebrated the 65 DAPER staff members who go above and beyond every day to serve MIT student-athletes. Our third-annual Staff Appreciation Day handed out thank you notes written by varsity athletes to each staff member and offered an array of goodies, including the coveted chocolate covered strawberries hand-made by appreciative SAAC members. DAPER staff, we thank you for all your hard work!"

MIT Hosts Relay for Life

By Hillary Jenny ’13, MIT Relay for Life Coordinator and Women's Tennis Team Member

Almost everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer. On March, MIT hosted its first ever Relay For Life, an overnight fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. MIT’s chapter of Colleges Against Cancer (CAC), a student organization associated with the American Cancer Society, sponsored the event. For the past five years, MIT has participated in the All-University Boston Relay For Life with other local universities.

Convocation Another Memorable Moment in MIT Athletics

Former MIT athletes and current coaches and student athletes took a trip back through history in more than one way on April 10th at the Boston Convention and Exposition Center. The more than 300 guests that helped celebrate the 150th Anniversary of MIT athletics were able to reconnect with old friends and teammates, meet the coaches and student-athletes that currently wear the Cardinal and Grey and peruse through the annals of MIT athletic history, through both a mural and a virtual timeline.
